Barbara Ann Corcoran

 Barbara Ann Corcoran was born March 10 1949. She is an American investor and speaker as well as consultant. The Corcoran Group, an NYC-based real estate brokerage was established by Corcoran. NRT bought it in 2001 for $66 million. Corcoran then left the business. Corcoran was one of ABC's initial Shark investors, has been a part of every episode of Shark Tank. In February of 2020, she had signed 53 deals. The largest of these was a purchase of $350,000 for Coverplay at 40 percent. Corcoran was born in Edgewater, New Jersey, the youngest of 10 children from a working class Irish Catholic family. [8] Her mother, Florence, was a homemaker. Her father, Edwin W. Corcoran Jr., bounced from job to job during Corcoran's youth. Her family frequently relied on free food deliveries from the local grocer. Corcoran recalls her father as a man who occasionally drank too much and did her mother a disservice and condescension, particularly when he'd been drinking. Corcoran struggled in school, and was later told that she had dyslexia. Corcoran entered the high school system in St. Cecilia High School Englewood after she had left her Catholic elementary school. Corcoran dropped several classes during her first year and transferred to Leonia High School where she was a D student.
